AE Talent Solutions are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Assistant Education Manager to support the delivery of high-quality education at HMP The Mount.
Working as part of the senior management team, you will support the Education Manager and play a key role in leading curriculum delivery, improving learner outcomes and maintaining high standards across the education provision.
About the Role:
You will support the Education Manager with the day-to-day management of the education department and deputise when required.
You will work across a range of curriculum areas, which may include Motor Mechanics, Art, Painting & Decorating, Music, Media and Personal & Social Development (PSD).
Your responsibilities will include
Supporting the Education Manager with the day-to-day operation of the education department.
Leading curriculum delivery, learner management and departmental performance.
Deputising for the Education Manager when required.
Supporting learner induction, allocation and engagement.
Driving improvements in recruitment, retention, achievement and learner satisfaction.
Setting and monitoring staff targets against KPIs and contractual requirements.
Supporting curriculum development in line with learner and employer needs.
Working with awarding organisations to ensure qualifications meet required standards.
Leading quality assurance and continuous improvement activity.
Managing IQA/EQA processes, observations, learning walks and deep dives.
Contributing to the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) and Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
Using performance data and MoJ MI systems to identify areas for improvement.
Coaching and supporting staff to improve teaching and learning.
Managing staff through appraisal, probation and CPD.
Supporting the induction and development of new team members.
Supporting recruitment and workforce planning.
Ensuring delivery meets Ofsted, MoJ and organisational standards.
Promoting safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
Ensuring compliance with prison security requirements.
Delivering teaching sessions and supporting class cover when required.
Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
About You:
Essential:
Level 5 teaching qualification or above.
Level 3 qualifications in Maths and English.
Internal Quality Assurance qualification, or willingness to achieve.
Significant teaching experience.
Experience managing staff and supporting team performance.
Experience of curriculum delivery and quality improvement.
Strong understanding of quality assurance processes.
Knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion.
Passion for using education to support rehabilitation and reduce reoffending.
Desirable:
Level 5 Operations/Departmental Manager qualification.
Experience working within prison education, adult education or further education.
Experience working across multiple curriculum areas.
