This is an excellent opportunity to deliver City & Guilds Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, supporting learners on their rehabilitation journey and helping them develop the skills, confidence and qualifications they need for life and employment beyond custody.
The Role
As a Functional Skills Maths Tutor, you will:
Deliver Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2
Teach groups of up to 12 learners
Conduct initial assessments and use BKSB diagnostics to identify learner starting points
Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and effective lessons
Adapt teaching approaches to meet different learning needs and abilities
Support learners with additional learning needs and reasonable adjustments
Monitor learner progress and support achievement
Prepare learners for examinations and assessments
Motivate and inspire learners to reach their potential
Promote numeracy and positive attitudes towards learning
Work closely with prison staff, support practitioners and employability teams
Maintain accurate learner records and administration
Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment
About You
We're looking for a committed and enthusiastic educator who is passionate about helping people succeed.
Essential:
Level 3 Maths qualification
Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above, such as PGCE, Cert Ed or DTLLS, or willingness to work towards one
Experience delivering Functional Skills Maths
Strong lesson planning and classroom management skills
Ability to engage and motivate learners
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
Strong communication and organisational skills
Good administration and record-keeping skills
Commitment to safeguarding, equality and inclusion
Desirable
Prison education experience
Further Education or adult learning experience
Experience using BKSB or similar diagnostic tools
Knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF)
Internal Quality Assurance qualification or willingness to work towards one
Confidence and genuine passion for Maths
